(December 25, 2004)
I was in a hospital and a patient was brought in. Everyone expected it to be a “code blue”. I was a new nurse and unfamiliar with the Drs’, nurses’, and patients’ history. There was a mean Dr. that no one seemed to like, take seriously, or get along with. He, myself, and another Dr. (who didn’t like him) were all in a room. The mean Dr. quietly told me that he didn’t want any “preservative” given to the new emergency patient. I couldn’t believe what I heard because I knew that “preservative” would give the patient a better chance to survive. So I repeated his sentence back to him to make sure that I heard him correctly (I did). He did not want me to let anyone give her the preservative, and if anyone did, he wanted me to take note of the given amount. I did not agree with his idea, so I left to find another Dr. (or nurse) that I could tell the situation to.
As I walked, the Drs all seemed to be very busy and people were crying everywhere. I entered this room where about 15 people were sitting quietly like something either very good or very bad just happened. They were all very emotional. As I went to speak to one of the black girls (who may have been visitors or patients) they were looking at the nurses crying, and the nurses were hugging them trying to comfort them while also crying. I left that room and followed a (white) nurse. I told her I wanted to talk to her about something. She led me to a bathroom, and when I began to speak, she turned and looked at me with tears rolling down her puffy, red face. I left her alone and walked to a hallway and saw a black nurse. She said “I have never seen this happen like this before. That is the hand of God”. I realized that it was the Lord’s hand. The Holy Spirit had fallen on this hospital floor and caused everyone to pause and caused conviction to the point of tears to workers and visitors alike. When God’s hand (Spirit) is present it is strong and overtaking-Praise God!!
